Cougar put down after killing house cat

The conservation office was forced to shoot a cougar, after officers were called out to reports of one in the backyard of a family residence on Cumberland Road.

Conservation officer Gord Gudbranson says, the cougar was attacking one house cat, and had already killed another nearby.

Pete Savin, Chair of the Courtenay District Fish and Game Association says, one of their members may have spotted it this morning.

Those precautions include hiking in a group, and never turning your back on the animal.
