Every Wednesday at 3:10pm, Mack and Woofy’s Pet Foods team up to feature a new local adoptable pet from one of our amazing island rescues.

This week we got to meet Crush from CR PAWS!

[caption id="attachment_72601" align="alignright" width="240"] Crush is available for adoption through CR PAWS[/caption]

You'll get why they call this fella Crush - he is SO cute you'll crush him with cuddles!

This 4 month old kitten is currently in foster care with his litter. He'll follow you around everywhere you go like a little brother tagging along on the fun. He's got a knack for knowing when you need some extra loving too!

Home Life:

Crush should be an indoor cat as otherwise he would spend all day trying to meet everyone on your block! Crush would thrive as a therapy companion, or just with a home who could use an extra cuddly cat. He continues to come out of his shell and become more loving and outgoing. As a kitten, he has not been tested with dogs/kids, but easily adaptable due to his young age.

About CR Paws:

CR Paws is a non-profit registered charity based out of Campbell River and servicing felines on the entire North Island! They focus on controlling the feral cat population and preventing unwanted litters with their Trap and Neuter/Spay program. They work in collaboration with the Facebook group “Lost and Found Animals of Campbell River” to help animals find their way back home, or find their new furever home, whether it’s with an adopter, a feral colony or as a barn cat!

Their available animals can be viewed through their website, campbell-river-paws.web.app or on their Facebook page, CR Paws.

Donate:

With kitten season upon us CR Paws could use all the help they could get! You can make monetary donations through their website, or donate product as well! They also have a awesome partnership with Woofy’s where you can donate your points towards the non-profit of your choice. They are always in need of items like kitten milk replacement, litter, food and bedding.

CR Paws also accepts non-animal items, like gas gift cards.

Volunteer:

There are a bunch of volunteer opportunities with CR Paws available for every area of interest. Roles like trapping, drivers, feeding, fundraising, admin, fostering and more!

The easiest way to help the cause is to spread the word! The more people who know about the work CR Paws does, the more successful they’ll be helping animals!

This week we got to meet Dallas from Raincoast Dog Rescue Society!

Dallas is a young brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier mixed breed. Dallas lives and loves fast, with a little bit of training he'll be the perfect addition to your family!

Home Life:

Dallas is one cute ball of energy! This sweet boy is working on his leash training as he has a habit of following his nose. Dallas is looking for an active family, or someone who has the time and patience to continue his training. Dallas has been friendly with dogs he's met, but has not been tested with cats or children. More to come on Dallas as the Raincoast team learns more about him!

History:

Dallas is about 1-1.5 years old, and was recently taken in from Coastal Animal Services in Duncan. He was previously unneutered, and RDRS will ensure he is before he's adopted out.

Every Wednesday at 3:10pm, Mack and Woofy's Pet Foods team up to feature a new local adoptable pet from one of our amazing local island rescues.

This week we got to meet Honey from Kitty Cat P.A.L.S.!

[caption id="attachment_72269" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Honey is available for adoption through Kitty                                         Cat P.A.L.S.[/caption]

Honey is just one of a handful of young moms who were brought in to KCP expecting kittens! All of her kittens have been adopted out, and Honey is now on the hunt for her forever home. She really is as sweet as honey!

Home Life:

Honey is approximately 3 years old and was brought in as an expecting mother. Now that her kittens have been adopted out, Honey prefers a quieter lifestyle with her humans right by her side. She's cuddly, affectionate and great with kids! Honey is intimidated by dogs and loud noises and will go into defence mode with a dog in her vicinity;  a no pet or cat-only home is required for Honey. Her foster home says she loves to cuddle up next to you on the couch and loves to be brushed!

History:

Honey was brought in to KCP as an expecting mother. She was placed in a foster home and gave birth to 5 healthy kittens who have now been adopted out to their forever homes. Honey was a feral cat who has been transitioned to be an indoors only cat and is LOVING it!

About Kitty Cat PALS:

Kitty Cat Prevent A Litter Society is a non-profit based out of Comox, BC. Their mission is to trap, neuter/spay, and relocate/adopt out cats to ensure there are no more unwanted litters on the streets!

Every Wednesday at 3:10pm, Mack and Woofy’s Pet Foods team up to feature a new local adoptable pet from one of our amazing island rescues.

This week we got to meet Spirit from Island Pacific Dog Rescue Society!

[caption id="attachment_72158" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Spirit is up for adoption through Island Pacific Dog Rescue Society[/caption]

Spirit is looking for a fun family with some experience in handsome huskies! He's 5 years old, neutered, and has been trained since he was a puppy - no accidents for this guy! He's a classic husky howler with a love of exploring and playing with other dogs.

Home Life:

Spirit comes with all the bells and whistles, like sit, stay, down, leave it, and more! He loves a good play with other dogs (of all sizes!), but has not been tested with children. Spirit would do great in a home with older or no kids, no cats, and some dog friends to hang out with!

He's good for a game of fetch, a cuddle on the couch or a hike up the mountain! Spirit is amazing with dogs off leash, but can get reactive when on a leash. His new family will need to be willing to work on his reactivity. A fenced yard is a must for Spirit as he likes to explore.

History:

Spirit has no health issues, however he does need some work with training. He is a strong dog who requires a pack leader otherwise he will assume the role. Along with working on leash reactivity, Spirits new family will need to work on introductions to strangers as he can get protective of his home. He is a lady lover at heart and can be weary of men, especially of the bearded variety - but with some love and time, Spirit will be ready for anything.

About the Rescue:

Island Pacific Dog Rescue Society is a non-profit based out of Qualicum Beach but has their adoptable animals in foster homes all across the island.

They have lots of opportunity to get involved, whether it's volunteering, fostering, or donating!

Wet Nose Wednesday – Meet Adoptable Sunshine! https://www.mycomoxvalleynow.com/71992/wet-nose-wednesday/wet-nose-wednesday-meet-adoptable-sunshine/ Wed, 26 Aug 2020 22:13:13 +0000 https://www.mycomoxvalleynow.com/?p=71992

Every Wednesday at 3:10pm, Mack and Woofy’s Pet Foods team up to feature a new local adoptable pet from one of our amazing island rescues.

This week we got to meet Sunshine from CR Paws!

You could have your own little ray of sunshine! This young mom is looking for a new place and people to call her own after living a tough life on the streets of Campbell River.

Home Life:

Sunshine earned her name! She is a very sweet and affectionate cat who loves to be pet. Although she'll pass on being picked up, she'll come find you for snuggle time. She is currently in a foster home with both cats and dogs, but has not been integrated at this time.

She's a tough young momma who has earned her peace and quiet, so a potential adopter would have a laid back home, older or no kids, and no other pets.

History:

Sunshine was trapped in the Shelter Point area after being spotted very pregnant and scared by a local. CR Paws was able to trap Sunshine and her 6 new kittens to bring them safely into care, and with 5 of the 6 kittens now adopted out, Sunshine is ready to find her furever home too!

Sunshine had a serious injury at the base of her tail when captured, which resulted in her tail being removed. She now has a cute little stub that doesn't cause her any pain.

Wet Nose Wednesday – Meet Adoptable Chase! https://www.mycomoxvalleynow.com/71815/wet-nose-wednesday/wet-nose-wednesday-meet-adoptable-chase/ Wed, 19 Aug 2020 18:22:50 +0000 https://www.mycomoxvalleynow.com/?p=71815 Chase is an 18 month old mixed breed from Lebanon!

Every Wednesday at 3:10pm, Mack and Woofy's Pet Foods team up to feature a new local adoptable pet from one of our amazing island rescues.

This week we got to meet Chase from Raincoast Dog Rescue Society!

[caption id="attachment_71821" align="alignright" width="300"] Chase is up for adoption through Raincoast Dog Rescue Society[/caption]

Chase is an 18 month old mixed breed shepard from Beirut, Lebanon. He was found injured on the street in Beirut and has since received all necessary medical care. Now he's as much a fun loving puppy as any other dog - just minus the use of his back legs!

Chase is still up for any adventure, whether it's a hike, play time with dogs or joining you on your next family road trip. His will to never quit just adds to his charm - he will always give 110%.

Home Life:

Chase loves to play with other dogs and his people, but can get nervous around smaller, excitable children. Because of this, Raincoast Dog Rescue is looking for an adopter with a fenced yard, and no small children or cats. Chase LOVES to play with toys, other dogs, and sniff all of the smells! He's always up for a nice snooze on the couch too! He does have urine incontinence and low control of bowel movements due to his previous injuries - but he will let you know when he needs to go outside and uses a bellyband for inside.

Chase's History:

Chase was found on the streets of Beirut, Lebanon after being hit by a car and losing his tail traumatically. He received all necessary treatment and is now up for ANY adventure - even despite losing use of his back legs! All of his medical treatments have been covered, and vets have said that he could regain control of his bladder and nerve endings with physiotherapy and time. Chase is considered far sighted and cross-eyed, but gets around with no issues (This is why a fenced yard is a must!)
