It’s important to be prepared in case of an emergency. During the holiday season, most are usually busy cooking away in the kitchen.

The risk of a fire can be quite high. That’s why the Comox Fire Department is holding an open house this Saturday.

Fire Chief Gord Schreiner says the event is part of Fire Prevention Week.

Schreiner says there will be several displays of items like smoke detectors. Firefighters from around the Island will also be on hand training as part of a survival rescue technique program.

That open house is tomorrow at the Comox Fire station from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
