The Comox Valley Community Foundation has given out its annual Community Enrichment Awards.
18 community organizations received funding this year. Foundation President Doctor Norman Carruthers says choosing the recipients is always a tough process.
Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North was awarded $10,000 for a replacement vehicle. Habitat spokesperson Pat McKenna says the grant will help the society do its work across the region.
Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue received $5,000 to replace some water equipment. SAR President Paul Berry accepted the donation at the award ceremony.
Other recipients of grants included Comox Valley Special Olympics and the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society. The foundation has given out almost $250,000 this year, which is a record amount of funds.
