Gibsons Search and Rescue raising funds for new boat

Last year, Gibsons Search and Rescue’s 20 members were called out 32 times. The boat they are using is 10 years old and out of date for the kind of work they do, according to members.

They’ve got a new one on order and to help pay for it, station leader Neil Ripley says the organization has to raise $20,000.

Ripley says the money raised is also used for a variety of other parts of the operations.

Ripley adds that a large portion of the money to pay for the new 9 and a half meter vessel is coming from provincial gaming grants.
