Comox Valley schools shut down
The Comox Valley School District says with the BCTF and BCPSEA not having reached an agreement on a negotiated settlement, they have been advised that there will continue to be pickets at all schools in the Comox Valley on Tuesday, September 2.
In a news release on their website District 71 is advising parents/guardians and students that all schools will be closed on Tuesday, September 2nd and will remain closed if similar job action continues.
District 71 officials say they will continue to provide updates as much as possible, as various information becomes available.
There are no signs the prolonged strike will end anytime soon, with both sides far apart on all key issues, leading to mediated talks being suspended over the weekend after veteran mediator Vince Ready declared an impasse. The BC Government says teachers will not be legislated back on the job.
