Natural Pastures Cheese Company has received funding from the provincial government.
The Comox Valley-based business is getting over $27,000 through the Buy Local program.
The funding will help them promote their water buffalo cheese product line.
Spokesperson Doug Smith says he has high hopes for their water buffalo products. He says there are 3 farms on Vancouver Island producing water buffalo milk.
Comox Valley MLA Don McRae says the Buy Local program is important to the region. McRae says the local company has a great story to tell. He notes that the water buffalo trade isn’t easy work, but it pays off and can produce an exceptional product.
The Buy Local program has received $8-million in provincial funding since 2012 to help out local agrifood and seafood companies around BC.
The Happy Goat Cheese Company in Duncan is also receiving up to $5,000 through the program.
