Funding benefits infrastructure & waste management projects in the region

The Comox Valley is befitting from provincial and federal funding towards infrastructure projects.

MLA Don McRae says over $1-million is going towards improvements to the 5th Street Bridge. “If you’ve lived in the Comox Valley for more than a week, you know that bridge is really important and is really in need of some upgrades and beautification, so I’m excited about that…”, says McRae.

The funding comes out of the Small Communities Fund. McRae adds that more than $5-million is going towards Comox Strathcona Waste Management for a new regional organics composting facility.

Campbell River Mayor Andy Adams says the facility will service both Campbell River and the Comox Valley. “The [facility] will really help in the planning of reducing the amount of volume going into the landfill and help both communities meet their environmental action targets”, he says.
