CVRD defends Boil Water Advisory

Comox Valley residents will have to keep stocking up on bottled water for a while longer, with the CVRD’s boil water advisory still on the books, despite frustrations of some valley residents, venting their concerns through social media.

The advisory has been in force for several weeks now, but Comox Valley Regional District spokesperson Leigh Carter says Island Health ultimately has the final say on those daily test results.

Carter says although pathogen levels are within Island Health guidelines, it is a different story for turbidity levels.

The CVRD boil water advisory kicked in shortly after that major flooding event in Courtenay a few weeks ago.
