Comox Valley RCMP holding “Coffee with a Cop” tomorrow

COURTENAY, B.C- Inspector Tim Walton wants to hear what the public has to say.

Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m., Walton and Constable Rob Gardner will be sitting down at the Crown Isle McDonalds Restaurant at 444 Lerwick Road. The pair will be available for anyone who wants to come by and ask them a question, or have a conversation.

Gardner announced the event on Monday afternoon, including a short rhyme, which is included below.

“Twas 5 days before Christmas and coffee was flowing,” wrote Gardner.

“At the McDonald’s Crown Isle the Chief of Police was a showing.”

“He invited each resident for a fireside chat, to bring questions or comments, or to talk about…”that”.”

“With his shirt so white and stripes so yellow, we hope you will join this jolly young fellow,”

“For a coffee and treat to spread holiday cheer,”

“Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.”

According to Gardner, the “Coffee with a Cop” event is a regular occurrence for the detachment. Any topic of discussion will be available with both officers.

“We’ll talk about any subject,” said Gardner.

“Any local subject that people want to talk about, we’re more than happy to discuss.”

He encouraged anyone who hadn’t met Walton to come out.

“If you haven’t met Inspector Walton, he’s super good for being out in the community, and willing to discuss things,” said Gardner.

“It’s a great chance to come out and ask questions if you want to.”

As for whether or not Walton would be wearing a Santa hat, like the one included in the handout photo, Gardner said he would ask.

“I’m not sure if he will or not, but we’ll see what I can do,” said Gardner.
