CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C.-The Campbell River Storm will have the chance to win the Cyclone Taylor Cup on home ice next year. BC Hockey has announced the team will be hosting the provincial Junior B championship in 2019.
The Cyclone Taylor Cup features the winners of the Kootenay International Hockey League, the Pacific Junior Hockey League, the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (the league the Storm play in), and the host team. The four teams play a round-robin tournament followed by the bronze and gold medal games.
“The Campbell River Storm are extremely pleased and count it a privilege to be named host of the Cyclone Taylor Cup for 2019,” said Wes Roed, Governor of the Storm. “This is not only a windfall for the Storm but also for our fans, our fantastic sponsors and the Campbell River community. Ultimately though, this is about the players, and we look forward to putting on an event that they will remember for a lifetime.”
The Storm won their 10th VIJHL championship this year and begin their quest for this year’s Cyclone Taylor Cup this Thursday in Richmond against the Richmond Sockeyes.
