Social Housing promoted at Courtenay City Hall

Creating a sense of urgency when it comes to building social housing in the Comox Valley, that was the
idea behind M’akola Development Services, and Courtenay’s Wachiay Friendship Centre delivering a recent presentation to Courtenay City Council.

Roger Kishi is a spokesperson for the Wachiay Friendship Centre.

But Courtenay Mayor Larry Jangula says a multi-pronged community wide solution is the key, adding the city is working on moving forward with their Braidwood Housing Project.

Jangula also says groups like Dawn to Dawn, and Habitat for Humanity also factor into local efforts in providing affordable housing, suggesting the City of Courtenay can’t go it alone in dealing with this valley-wide issue.

Meanwhile Courtenay Council will release more details on proposals for the Braidwood Housing Project at next Monday’s Council meeting.
