EAST VANCOUVER ISLAND, B.C- It’s a foggy day for Vancouver Island.
According to a notice from Environment Canada, the coastline from Campbell River down to Nanoose Bay is experiencing a period of fog which could cause near zero visibility.
“A strong inversion over the south coast has trapped an extensive area of fog over the Strait of Georgia,” read the notice.
“Fog has moved onshore at many locations near the Strait and is reducing visibilities. Conditions are expected to improve somewhat through the afternoon.”
The fog is expected to stay around on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands into Tuesday.
“Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero,” read the notice.
“If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”
The notice is in effect for the following communities.
- East Vancouver Island – Courtenay to Campbell River
- East Vancouver Island – Duncan to Nanaimo
- East Vancouver Island – Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay
