Wind warning in effect for Courtenay and Campbell River

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for eastern Vancouver Island from Courtenay to Campbell River.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected to occur with the potential to toss loose objects and cause tree branches to break.

“A strong Pacific storm moving through the south coast will give blustery winds to areas near the Strait of Georgia,” Environment Canada says.

Southeast winds will slowly increase throughout the day and peak at 70 km/h late afternoon and this evening.
