BC Court of Appeal sides with BC Government on teachers dispute

Premier Christy Clark, and Education Minister Peter Fassbender say the BC Court of Appeal ruling on class size and composition can be a new start in the government’s relationship with the BCTF.

But the union says they are going to take the case to the Supreme Court of Canada, after the 4-1 decision that the government did not violate the Charter with legislation that took class size and composition out of collective bargaining.

Fassbender says it’s time to end the long-running fight…

The BCTF says they will appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court of Canada, that from Nick Moore, who represents Comox Valley teachers.

Moore says this case is all about charter rights.

The BC Court of Appeal ruling on the dispute came down earlier today.
