Cumberland, Royston water users now under Stage 2 restrictions

Cumberland is now under Stage 2 water restrictions.

The restrictions took effect today for users of the Cumberland and Royston water systems.

The goal is to make sure there is enough drinking water and firefighting resources available until the fall rain arrives.

Under Stage 2, watering your lawn with a sprinkler is reduced to certain days and hours based on your address.

Those at even numbered addresses can water on Wednesdays from 4:00am to 10:00am and 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

The same hours apply for odd numbered addresses on Thursdays only.

Washing sidewalks, driveways, windows, and buildings is prohibited under most circumstances.

Also starting today, the bike wash station in the Cumberland Recreation Centre parking lot will temporarily close, and will remain that way for the duration of Stage 2.

Meanwhile, the Village will continue to monitor water supply and weather forecasts, and should drought conditions continue, the hours of operation of the Village Park water spray park may be reduced.

In the meantime, the spray park will remain on normal hours of operation: 10:00am to 7:00pm, Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day.
