Temperatures in the Comox Valley have been absolutely scorching this week, and believe it or not, it’s expected to get even hotter by the weekend. While that’s certainly good news for sun worshippers, it’s prompting our North Island medical health officer to remind everyone to be safe when out in the sun.

Dr. Charmaine Enns says, it’s mostly just common sense, like staying out of the direct sun during the mid-day, when temperatures are generally at their highest.

Dr. Enns adds that air conditioning is a good idea if you have it, and to wear minimal, or loose clothing. She says sun safety is especially important to those most vulnerable during these times; Seniors, young children, and babies.
