Explosions may be heard in Comox Valley during military exercises

19 Wing Comox says you might hear controlled detonations over the next week and a half during an annual training exercise.

The base says exercise TAZ RUNNER will be running explosions between Feb. 15 and 29 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. They say its purpose is for the Canadian Armed Forces to train in the disruption of Improvised Explosive Devices.

They add you might also see more vehicle traffic around 19 Wing, HMCS Quadra via Goose Spit and the Seal Bay Armoury.

“These activities are routine military training and there is no need to report them to 19 Wing or local emergency services,” they said in a press release.
