Comox Valley group among 21 finalists of 2024 Land Awards

A Comox Valley group is in the running for this year’s Land Awards.

Created in 2010 by the Real Estate Foundation of BC, Land Awards run every two years, focusing on recognizing projects that protect land and water across BC.

For this year, 21 finalists have been announced for five different categories. In the Fresh Water category, the Comox Valley project watershed society are in the running for the Kus-Kus-Sum: Unpave Paradise project.

It aims to restore the field sawmill site, with the goal of making 8.3 acres of fish and wildlife habitat, provide educational opportunities, and help mitigate climate change.

CEO of the foundation Mark Gifford says they are excited to celebrate the leaders and organizations.

“By sharing success stories from across BC, we hope to build bridges and inspire lasting change,” said Gifford.

The foundation says they will reveal the winners of the categories and the Land Champion and Emerging leader awards.

The awards gala is set for June 13, in Vancouver.
