Outdoor Pool to have free-swimming this summer

The Outdoor pool is 75 years old, and the City of Courtenay is celebrating by making swimming free this season.

The city says swimming will be free for all ages, including open, family, adapted, and length swims, as well as AquaFit.

Director of recreation, culture, and community services Susie Saunders says while that is happening, the wading pool will be closed.

“We are disappointed the wading pool will need to stay closed this summer while we assess potential repair options,” said Saunders. “We know how popular the wading pool is for families who have small children. “

They say a significant water leak was found in the winter, resulting in the pool being closed this summer.

The Rotary Water Park can be used as an alternative, open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Lewis Park.

For the outdoor pool, you will still need to pay rental and registration fees for swim lessons, kayak programs, and private pool rentals.

The pool will be open on June 3, running until August 31.
