Nightly construction until Wednesday starts tonight as part of 6th Street Active Transportation Bridge project

Limited access to 6th Street between Cliffe and Anderton avenues will begin tonight in Courtenay.

The city said overnight construction will take place over the next three days to connect the Courtenay Riverway Path to the new 6th Street Active Transportation Bridge.

The pathway connection will link trail networks on both sides of the Courtenay River, creating a safer and more seamless route through the community.

6th Street between Cliffe and Anderton avenues will close from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. from June 1 to 3 for construction.

Parking spaces on the south side of 6th Street between the Central Builders parking lot and the Riverway access will be permanently removed as part of the connection work.

Residents in the area can expect overnight and early morning construction activity, with temporary detours in place.
