CVRD inviting residents to explore parks in the Comox Valley

Comox Valley residents are being invited to connect with nature, learn about conservation efforts and celebrate some of the electoral area’s most valued public spaces.

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is hosting two Play in the Parks events to help raise awareness of the roles they play in supporting healthy communities, protecting natural ecosystems and providing opportunities for recreation, learning and connection.

“These events offer an opportunity to learn more about local parks, connect with neighbours and celebrate the natural landscapes that contribute to the Comox Valley’s exceptional quality of life,” said CVRD manager of parks Mark Harrison.

The first Play in the Parks event will be July 9 from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Dyke Road Park.

The second event will be the following week on July 16 from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Goose Spit Park.

CVRD staff will be in pop-up tents at the events sharing information, refreshments, treats and takeaways.

Residents can stop at the Dyke Road Park event to see recent park upgrades and changes to help with the site’s climate resiliency.

At Goose Spit Park, visitors can learn about the sand verbena moth and site conservation efforts.
