The province says driving on the Malahat for the rest of the winter is going to be a lot safer, and more comfortable because the Malahat Safety Improvement Project has wrapped up ahead of schedule!

The $15 million project saw the highway widened from Shawnigan Lake Road to the summit, median barriers installed, intersection upgrades and improvements to passing lanes.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the end of the project, Comox Valley MLA Don McRae delivered another piece of welcoming news.

The province says around 22-thousand people drive the Malahat every day.
