With Canada Day just around the corner, Courtenay-Comox MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard wanted to make sure the community got to celebrate.

Although there won’t be any in-person festivities this year, a virtual parade is planned, she explained on her Facebook page.

“I love a parade and will miss our usual Canada Day celebration that brings the community together, so let’s gather in new ways.”

Instead of participating with floats, she is inviting the community to create a Canada Day themed painting, drawing, poem, story, song, window display, or even decorate your house.

Take a photo of your artwork, email it to her and all the artwork will be featured in the virtual Canada Day celebration on her Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts.

The deadline to submit your Canada Day themed art is tonight at midnight.
