A documentary that shines a spotlight on the rights of Indigenous children is coming to the Comox Valley.
North Island College nursing students are presenting Jordan River Anderson: The Messenger.
The 53rd film by Alanis Obomsawin tells the story of how the short life of Jordan River Anderson initiated a battle for the right of Indigenous children to receive the same standard of social, health and educational services as the rest of the Canadian population.
Following the film is a discussion with NIC Elder in Residence, Dr. Evelyn Voyageur.
The event is happening next Wednesday, Feb. 26 at the Comox Valley campus’s Stan Hagen Theatre.
It gets underway at 6:30pm.
Admission by donation to NIC’s Global Learning Initiative, a student-driven project that fosters awareness of global issues through partnerships with local communities and individuals.
